As a congressional intern for a United States congressman, I was given the opportunity to obsserve the legislative process up close. I worked with the congressman's press secretary to archive monitor and archive press coverage of the congressman and his sponsored legislation. I had to remain knowledgeable on the congressman's stance on issues and policies to respond to constituent correspondence and was able to give tours of the U.S. Capitol Building to constituents.
As a member of Lobby Board, I worked to advocate on behalf of Auburn University to government officials. Through lobbying efforts, the group advocated on behalf of the student body to state and federal officials. Prior to the 2016 presidential election, Lobby Board coordinated and promoted voter registration drives for the student body, registering over 1,000 Auburn students to vote.
My experience with the United States House of Representatives and Auburn University Lobby Board have given me opportunities to learn about government, political communications and professionalism.
